2025 Boston Area Annual Senior Executive Dinner
Wednesday, December 3, 2025 (6 - 9 p.m. US/Eastern)
Mistral Restaurant
223 Columbus Ave
Boston, MA
This dinner brings senior executives together in a relaxed setting to share ideas and expand their networks. It’s also an ideal opportunity to introduce other members of your leadership team to the ALDA community.
Keeping with the tone of thoughtful conversation and connection, we'll welcome esteemed guest speaker Professor Avi Loeb for a fascinating discussion:
The Search for Interstellar Objects of Technological Origin
Presented by: Dr. Avi Loeb, Director of the Institute for Theory & Computation, Head of the Galileo Project, Harvard University
Over the past decade, scientists have detected several interstellar objects with properties unlike anything observed in our solar system, including extraordinary material strength and unexplained acceleration. In 2023, researchers recovered 850 spherules from a Pacific Ocean impact site; about 10% had a chemical composition distinct from known solar system materials.
The Galileo Project is now using infrared, optical, radio, and acoustic observatories—paired with machine learning—to monitor millions of near-Earth objects. With new data expected from the Rubin Observatory in Chile, researchers are asking whether some of these anomalies could be technological in origin. Harvard Professor Avi Loeb will speak to ALDA attendees about the scientific relevance of this work, the role of advanced detection technologies, and the broader implications for discovery and innovation.
About the speaker:
Prof. Avi Loeb, Director of the Institute for Theory & Computation and Head of the Galileo Project at Harvard University, is a leading theoretical astrophysicist renowned for his pioneering work on black holes, the first stars, and the search for extraterrestrial life.
He is also the Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science at Harvard, former Chair of the Department of Astronomy, and founding director of the Black Hole Initiative. A prolific scholar and bestselling author, Loeb has authored over 1,000 scientific papers and books, including Extraterrestrial and Interstellar. His leadership in the Galileo Project marks a bold, data-driven approach to investigating Unidentified Aerial Phenomena and possible technosignatures from alien civilizations.
